Portrait of Sarah Sak, mother of Anthony Walgate who was murdered by serial killer Stephen Port published in The Telegraph Magazine on 1st January 2022.
In September I photographed a 10 mile walk for the very first issue of Saturday Guardian. The walk starts and ends at the Green Dragon pub in Hardraw near Hawes. Before starting the walk you can visit Hardraw Force, a waterfall that sits just behind the pub - although if it hasn’t been raining it might not be worth the £4 entry fee. To start the walk you head through the village and make your way up towards Great Shunner Fell and then back down the way you came where you then go back in to the pub for a pint and a bowl of chips. The weather was a very typical Yorkshire drizzly day but that is something we are definitely use to!

A selection of images I took for the British Red Cross’ latest campaign This is Human Kind.
Kindness is not just about random acts; it’s about the meaningful, human connections created by supporting one another and helping those who are most in need. This campaign highlights ordinary people doing extraordinary things
I’ve been pondering over a project idea involving people and their dogs for a while now and sometimes you can think about it and think about it but you really know you just need to get out and start taking some pictures.
So here we are, the very very beginning of a new project called Hounds of Love which is a love letter to all dogs that are always by our sides and have helped us through the best and worst of times. There are over 10 million pet dogs in the UK with 26% of the population owning a dog.
As a dog owner myself I am especially grateful for Wally’s company this year and his relentless need for a routine to get us outside every single day whether I want to or not.
There’s something a bit uncomfortable about sharing the start of a project that hasn’t fully developed but I think I need some accountability to get past the first hurdle of self doubt and talking myself out of it. I have also loved hearing all about each dogs quirks and just how loved they are.

“Well it’s the best office in the world, isn’t it?”

“At least having a dog gets you outside even if it’s miserable weather. They give you structure and something to do, but what I wouldn’t give to go to the pub and sit at the bar and have a grumble”
Sally with Sky and Brig
“Brig came to us covered in fleas and half bald, I’ve worked really hard to work on his fear aggression. In 2019 he was the highest level agility league winner and is also a member of Wharfedale Woofs Flyball Team. Sky is a little monster and has a long way to go yet”
